Joining him will be Dublin standup favourite and Shinoxy founder (the absolutely hilarious) Lucy Moffatt, DU Players Comedy supremos Valerie Lynch & James Belfast (both preparing to delight Edinburgh with their uproarious student comedy). Lucy Montague-Moffatt

Returning after an uproarious performance at MLBJ 10, Lucy Montague-Moffatt is a writer, stand-up comedian and one of Dublin’s female sketch comedy trio ‘Shinoxcy’. She has been writing and performing comedy around Ireland since 2009, including performing an original satirical play by Shinoxcy as part of the 2010 ABSOLUT Fringe. She will be performing in two separate shows for the 3 week Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year, this will more that likely cause insanity and /or death.
Lucy’s other hobbies include hello kitty, cycling around town dangerously and trying her best to ignore the imminent apocalypse.

Sarina Kajani

Sarina Kajani once defeated a multinational child sex trafficking cartel using her left thumb. She also had help from an eccentric 5 year old who constantly exclaimed ‘ I need to wiiizzlllleee!!!’
She now spends her time making cakes, feeding lonely college students in exchange for their love. She’s that desperate for attention. She also has a particular affinity to the word asphyxiate but would never divulge in such an act as that is bold. She rarely abides by the Christian virtue of modesty, but who cares? Bitch be Muslim.

Alan Bennett

Alan Bennett stopped comedying it up for ages, but now he’s back and nearly as good as he was before! He has been a finalist in Edinburgh’s So You Think You’re Funny competition and a winner of The London Comedy Store’s King Gong Award. He has toured Ireland with David O’Doherty and Maeve Higgins. He tells loads of jokes about animals. And some about other things.

James Moran

James Moran’s surreal and self deprecating stories play delightfully with language, Irishness and irresponsibility. He’s a much loved regular at Milk and Cookies and provided support for the workshop performance of Cheaper Than Therapy at Twisted Pepper.

Gary Lynch has been performing standup comedy around Ireland and the UK since 2009. He co-founded the infamous Underground Comedy Club, which rapidly became the home of original outrageous standup comedy in Ireland. Gary is infamous for his searingly honest and politically incorrect critiques of Irish culture.

Megan Nolan

Megan Nolan hosts the “Voice of the Youth” segment at Voicebox in Twisted Pepper every month. In 2007 she was awarded Cuisle Young Poet of the Year. She’s also a rapper and founder of the group ‘You’re Only Massive’. Megan was recently a featured performer at Maeve Higgen’s Enlightenment night, and regularly writes about comedy and culture.

Sarina Kajani

Enda Muldoon began comedy four years ago in a bid to deal with deep seated childhood psycholgical trauma. Not strictly a comedian, watching Enda perform is a dark view at the fragility of the human psyche. Just a little note to say I’ll be performing at the Digital Socket Awards, this Thursday in the 3rd of February in the Grand Social! It’s a new award ceremony celebrating the best in Irish music, with performances from Groom, Meljoann, and Ham Sandwich, and DJ sets from Logikparty and Sweet Oblivion.

A few weeks later, the all-Ireland panel of judges have come to their conclusions and the results will be announced at a special live event in Dublin’s Grand Social venue this Thursday 3rd February. Special guests include comedian Gareth Stack as host along with live music from soulful indie popsters Groom, the funky electronic stylings of Meljoann and a top-secret performance by one of Ireland’s most popular bands. Following on the celebrations are DJ sets, including the daring sounds of new-wave rockers Logikparty and RTE 2XM’s Sweet Oblivion.

Special partners in the event are RTÉ Television who, as part of their new webcast show RED Radar, will present one lucky winner with an extra award in the category of Outstanding Performance in Irish music of 2010. All winners will also be invited to the RED Radar studio to record their songs for a special feature on the Digital Socket Awards.

Doors open at 7:30 pm and the show runs until late. Get there early for top nosh from Boojum Mexican restaurant and there will be special drinks promotions on offer all night. The award announcements get underway with Best EP at 8:15 pm.

Playwright, musician and actor Roger Gregg has been producing innovative radio theatre and stage work for more than twenty years. With his Crazy Dog Theatre company, he’s been responsible for some of the funniest original radio plays on Irish and international radio. Most recently, Roger wrote and performed in the sold out musical play Faustus, a retelling of Marlows classic play, at the Smock Alley Theatre.

Shinoxcy are one of Dublin’s most popular new sketch acts. An all female trio who’ve already performed their own sold out show in the Dublin Fringe Theatre Festival, been written about in Hotpress and headlined dozens of comedy nights around the city.

Mel Jim is a Dublin storyteller and adventurer whose ribald tales have been a huge success at Milk and Cookies.

Gordon Rochford is one of Dublins tightest and filthiest standup comedians, and the man behind Comedy HaHa at Sweenys. At this months Marshmallow show he’ll be presenting his new white rap act, The Inquisition.

Your MC as always is Gareth Stack, one of the most controversial and experimental comedians in Dublin. “Over the past few months I’ve been telling stories. Silly stories, funny stories, disgusting stories, tragic stories – but all of them romantic disaster stories! Now it’s time to put them together in the first performance of ‘Cheaper Than Therapy’, an uncensored show about love, sex, manhood and the horrors of dating.

This is strictly a ‘for one night only’ workshop – I’ll be bringing it to festivals in the future if all goes well.”

‘Cheaper Than Therapy’, is an evening of ‘Moth style’ comic anecdotes of romantic disaster. Stories from Cheaper Than Therapy have been featured at a variety of Dublin Storytelling events including Tongue Box (formerly Ra), ‘Scarleh Fer Yer Ma Fer Havin’ Ya’, and ‘Milk and Cookie Stories’.

Marshmallow Ladyboy Jesus 6 – Ladyboy Jesus Vs The World, is an evening of blasphemous experimental comedy from some of Ireland’s most talented writers, comedians and storytellers.

This months guests include:

Fústar (also known as John Byrne) is one of Ireland’s funniest journalists and bloggers. When not writing for the likes of SFX, The Irish Times, The Irish Book Review, REDEYE and EnterText, Fustar has recycled cultural waste at his award winning blog since 2005.

Film maker and ‘Milk & Cookies Stories’ star storyteller Thomas Rowley is the man behind the new Storymap Dublin project. His anecdotes of romantic misadventure are helping to popularise ‘Moth’ style comedic storytelling in Dublin.

Alison Spittle is one of Ireland’s best young female comedians. Half traveller, half hyper-intelligent ball of self deprecating charm and wit.

Actor, comedian and unrepentant American Billy Anderson has been performing comedy since 2006. Starting with Atlanta’s renowned Relapse Theatre Company, Billy has gone on to MC Cork’s Craic House, and perform standup around Ireland.
